Enchanted Lion Books, a Brooklyn-based “bold independent publisher dedicated to sharing stories from around the globe that nourish the moral imagination” have been hit hard by Covid-19. With school and library closures, and the economic downturn, they’ve seen book sales drop by 75%.
To help them keep publishing during these hard times, they’ve launched a Kickstarter Campaign, and if you can spare even a tiny donation, I encourage you to do so.
I’ve no personal affiliation with Enchanted Lion Books, except that I really value and admire what they do—as does the venerable brainpickings.com. Bertolt is one of my favorite books from their catalog, but there are many more in their extraordinary and innovative catalog (which includes these stunning, award-winning titles).
So please, if you value independence, innovation and artistic genius in children’s books, I hope you’ll consider making a small donation to keep this unique press afloat through 2020.
